How do I know when the pilot light is broken vs just dirty and needing your tool? 25 year old Majestic/Vermont Castings gas fireplace and the pilot light lately has a large yellow flame.... And the main burner will not light.

Gas any one ever cleaned a boiler pilot light this way? Just unscrewing the silver tube at the pilot and blowing air all the way threw it till it reaches the pilot-

Why go to all that trouble when you can use a standard vacuum (pref with nozzle but not required) and vacuum it? No need to buy anything and a lot faster.

On point. Used a reg air pump and just held it with my hand. Pilot is stout and blue now.

Worked like a champ. Mine had 2 fittings and was the silver one. just look near the pilot assembly and verify color. hooked a portable air compressor up and blew it out while holding the compressor on with my fingers. no other took required.

Help! I have a Desa T32ENRB gas/electric fire place. I'm having the issue of it shutting off after the bunners cut on. What's hard to figure out is that this unit doesn't had a thermo coupler or a thermo pipe. There is only a gas line to the pilot and to the bunners. So I'm thinking everything else is electrical. If you can help me in any way I would highly appreciate it. Thank you!

Ours wouldn't stay lit and we fixed it with one of those pads that is on the back of some kitchen sponges. Turns out the thermopile was dirty, so we simply cleaned it off. I posted a video on my channel if you want to see how easy it was to fix.

Just blow the line out with a low pressure air nozzle. Works great. No need for a old foot pump. lol
